In fact, a brand new report done by the Nielsen Company, titled “The Chewing, It Won’t Stop”, researchers took 1,139 participants and found that 91% of people snack AT LEAST 1-2 times a day.

Here’s a look at the results from the study…

As you can see above, over 60% of people have at least 1-2 snacks per day with many snacking up to 5-times per day and some even saying they are “always snacking…”

This research proves a very interesting point… And that point is this:

People WANT To Snack & Want To Snack Daily

And if research tells us anything… Snacking isn’t going away any time soon…

snakcsIn fact, in 2006 consumers spent $56 Billion on snack foods… $64 Billion was spent in 2010… And in 2015, consumers are expected to spend $77 BILLION on snack foods ALONE…

It’s reasons like this that the major food corporations are getting “so excited” about this “snacking trend” and coming out with ridiculous snack options like “Chicken & Waffle Potato Chips” (yes, that’s a real thing…)

And it’s the reason BIG coffee corporations (I think you know the chain I am referring to) are now serving a wide variety of snacks on their menu…

It’s also the reason that vending machines are still booming and fast food chains continue to grow…

So, it’s pretty clear that…

People LOVE to snack.

As you have heard before, it can get confusing when the health and nutrition industry tells you that snacking is “bad.”

However, let me say this… Snacking, itself, is NOT your problem when trying to achieve your health and fitness goals.

Rather, it is simply the type of snacks that you consume that will make or break reaching your goals.

Being a nutrition coach and personal trainer for the last 8 years, and being able to help over 7,200 men and women both online and offline, this new snacking research doesn’t surprise me much…

Although this protein bar may be labeled as a “healthy snack”, look at all the junk you are throwing into your body…

For years now, the major food corporations have been getting away with labeling their processed (junk) foods as “healthy” while slapping on labels like “gluten free” or “fat free” or “low calorie” just to add to the confusion.

The reason they do this is purely for marketing purposes.

I’ve been there too…

For years, I fell into this “healthy” snack trend the big corporations were feeding me until one-day, through an incredibly embarrassing encounter with a client that changed everything… First though, allow me to quickly introduce myself…

She’s a big part of the story you are about to read below, so be sure you keep her in mind as you are reading…

Anyway, for the last 8-years, I have worked with over 7,200 clients both online and offline, helping them reach their highest potential in health and fitness through workouts, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching.

I have had the pleasure of working with professional athletes, fighters, everyday gym goers, office workers, and everyone else in between.

Several years ago, while I was working as a non-profit social media manager by day and personal trainer and nutrition coach by night, time was limited and healthy eating was harder than ever.

Like you may be feeling right now, meals seemed to more of a “grab and go” process than actually finding a healthier option.

One day, while on my way to the gym for after after a long day at the non-profit offices, I grabbed a  bag of “Healthy” Baked Lays potato chips and some “healthy” honey roasted peanuts from the vending machine and made my way to the gym…

When I got to the gym, I threw my bag of chips and peanuts wrapper in the trashcan as I waved hello to one of my clients…

She noticed the chip bag and peanuts and jokingly said, “didn’t you just tell me last week to stop eating chips at the office?”

Immediately, my heart sank as I blushed bright red with embarrassment…

I didn’t know what to say…

I mean, I couldn’t say “well, it’s OK for me to eat that because I am a personal trainer…”

So I just told her the same excuse everyone always told me for why they were eating junk foods as a snack… “I was in a rush…”

Later that night, I went home to my wife and told her what happened…

Still extremely embarrassed for being called out by my client… I vowed that night to start making better snacking choices…

There was just ONE problem…

Healthy Snacks Taste Terrible And Are Hard To Find

The very next day, I was immediately hit with the reality of how hard it is to make better snacking choices… It was pretty brutal… Especially since my co-worker decided to bring in home-made cookies that day…

When I got home that night, I complained to my wife, once again, about the whole snacking situation…
